Our location. Hideaway Cove is ocean front and completely surrounded by State Park. We are the only lodge in Kachemak Bay/Halibut Cove with direct access to two state park trails….and did we mention the mile-wide glacier in our back yard?
Our Solitude. While other “wilderness lodges” have neighbors and even electricity poles, we do not. We use renewable solar energy for our electricity! Because of our seclusion, we observe wildlife daily, not occasionally.
Our Guides Our guided glacier trips are legendary. No nineteen-year-old guides here!!!!! We take you to the glacier in style with a professional, ACA certified, wildlife biologist. Our perfect 11-year safety record on the water speaks for itself.
The beauty Our lodge is unique in that every cabin has an incredible view. The wildflower gardens will captivate you, the views will “wow” you. Many guests have called it “the world’s finest view”.
The atmosphere Hideaway Cove is a bit more "low key" than other wilderness lodges. Our guests appreciate the down-to-earth atmosphere around the lodge. Instead of an up-tight "casino" feel, you will experience more of an "island" feel around Hideaway Cove; friendly and relaxed.
"You may never find a more beautiful place." -- Roger, Wisconsin
Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge was developed in harmony with it's special location. We have purposefully kept the lodge quaint. We believe nature is best enjoyed in small groups, away from thetourist crowds. As stewards of the environment, we have taken an "Earth-friendly" approach in developing the lodge. We are especially proud of our solar power system, which generates nearly 100% of our electricity. Our fresh water comes from a mountain spring and our waste-water system is engineered well beyond government standards. Our main lodge building is a low-impact yurt and the log cabins were built using beetle-killed timber. In our day to day operations, we encourage "leave-no-trace" activities. This way, generations to come will experience the same beauty as we have.
"...we could not have been more pleased with an experience of a lifetime. Jordan was our guide and the passion for what he did and appreciation of the beauty came shining through. We shared a breathtaking day of adventure and natural beauty kayaking Grewingk Glacier Lake among the icebergs! His specific instruction and constant concerns for our safety were relayed with patience, and at every opportunity he shared his wisdom in points of interest on the lake and the trails.. We would highly recommend this incredible opportunity!" --Guest letter written to the Homer Chamber of Commerce
