Homer:

Nestled among rolling hills and overlooking Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains, this seaside community has 4,000 residents and another 8,000 beyond the city limits. In addition to the downtown area of Homer, a unique attraction is the Homer Spit, a long, narrow finger of land jutting 4.5 miles into Kachemak Bay. The Spit is home to the small boat harbor and hundreds of charter and commercial boat operators. The weather here is mild and summer temperatures average in the 60's. Homer offers all the amenities of a small, first class city, including a hospital, medical clinics, pharmacies, police and fire departments, and a U.S. Coast Guard cutter for safety at sea. Although Homer is a beautiful place and a nice town to explore for a day, the real jewel lies across the Bay from Homer.....Kachemak Bay State Park. Hideaway Cove Lodge is a perfect place to escape the tourist crowds and experience the wilderness. Instead of a cabin WITH a view, you will have a cabin IN the view!!

Kachemak Bay State Park comprises almost 400,000 acres of glaciers, mountains, and fjords across Kachemak Bay from Homer. It is only accessible by boat or plane and is home to many species of wildlife including black bear, moose, mountain goat, wolverine, wolves, and lynx. Hideaway Cove Lodge is on the East shore of Halibut Cove. A perfect location for hiking, sea kayaking, wildlife viewing, and relaxing. The scenery at the lodge is incredibly breathtaking. Come see why, as one guest put it, "you may never find a more beautiful place . . . "
